[ It all begins because Aomine is bad at English.

He's bad at a lot of things in school, to be fair. With his seniors currently busy with their own hefty study schedules due to college entrance exams, he's down to just Wakamatsu, Ryo, and Satsuki to <strike>carry</strike> support him through his classes. This means his grades have been getting worse, which have ironically begun to hurt his chances of making it to games despite all the practice - or "trying out his new shoes" or "working some kinks out of his back" or "I can do what I want, shut up" - he's been putting in lately. As thirsty as the Touou athletics division is for a serious title instead of what tournament circles have started to call a habitual second place slot, there's only so many ways to cheat Aomine into a passing grade.

So there's no more just napping and taking baths at home. There's no more napping and reading magazines at school. There's no more skipping out of his last class to just shoot hoops in the park where no one can bother him. Satsuki already took all his skin mags, Wakamatsu locked up all his basketball shoes in the team's practice facility, and Ryo now eats lunch with him every day, just so he can do one thing: study.

And study.

And study.

And study some more.

They only reason his dad hasn't put the wireless behind a password is that so he can study at home, but if his dad thinks Aomine isn't going to look at porn when he and mom happen to be out, he's got another thing com-- ] ...what?!

[ Aomine, sitting at his desk in sweats, a t-shirt, and with a box of tissues on his lap, is also staring at his laptop screen.

THIS WEBSITE HAS BEEN BLOCKED BY McAFEE PARENTAL CONTROLS. ]

That's BULLSHIT!

[ A half hour and a lot of swearing later - one foul word for every new HAS BEEN BLOCKED discovery - Aomine is morosely browsing US basketball forums, because his dad hadn't thought to block non-Japanese sites. However, it all comes back around to studying once again, because instead of tissues, Aomine has his English textbook and dictionary on the desk and in his lap and he is stubbornly, bitterly attempting to fuck around, even if he has to learn English to do it.

Eventually, a forum topic that translates, roughly, to "HOW BALL BETTER YOU?" catches his eye. A look through the posts shows many of them to be too long to attempt, but a few are a couple sentences; one or two is just one short statement. He picks several of them and goes to work, muttering under his breath as he puts together semi-legible sentences:

"SOCKS HIGH ME."

"THROW TWO HOUR BROTHER."

"PLEDGE TAKE."

And so on like that, most of them without replies. One, however, earns a long, intense comment chain, prompting Aomine to put a little more effort into getting it to make sense:

"LOTS OF ----- I GET."

Lots of...something. A word he hasn't seen written down. It makes him feel too much like an elementary school kid, but Aomine has to take each letter and sound it out. ]

Ph...uhs...cee.

[ The heck is that even supposed to-- ] ...oh.

[ Aomine's eyes widen with revelation. ]

Ooooohhhh.

[ He spends another half hour deciphering the rest of the comment chain, making out agreement after agreement and, in a few cases, stories from guys about how one night made all the difference in their game, even dropping a few juicy details here and there.

That's all Aomine really needs to be convinced, or at least, convinced enough to give it a shot.

That's why, sometime after 9:30 PM on a Friday night, one unfortunate (or fortunate?) number on his contact list is going to be getting a call, which consists of: ]

Hey.

[ He says as a greeting, before immediately leaping into his next statement: ]

I need to have sex.

((OOC: A (mainly) canon-based PSL! The person on the phone can be any KnB character; or, if you'd like to be an outside character AU'd into the setting, please hit me up on plurk!))

comments

Four cases of beer, a bet, and a dare. That was how it all started.

The beer had been Tecate and it'd been bought by someone's older brother, since not a one of them was older than seventeen. The bet had been that the Heat wouldn't win against OKC, and in fact would lose by at least fifteen points. The dare had been at the discretion of the winner. Aomine had had way too many of the beers, had claimed that Miami would win, and had scoffed at the idea that any dare would be too tough for him to see through.

A day later, while still nursing the worst kind of hangover, he was cursing himself, his asshole friends, and the fucking failure of the Heat defense for his current situation.

All-Saints Psychiatric Hospital hadn't been a hospital since the 50s; supposedly it'd just been records storage before finally being shuttered for good sometime in the 1980s. Now, it was a derelict ghost sitting on the edge of new suburban sprawl, it's crumbling facade obscured by trees, an overpass, a hill, and distance. Once you got past the high fence and heavy, bolted gate, you might as well have been in another world, one overrun with grass, weeds, twisted shrubs, and patchy trees. There'd been a cobblestone drive, once, now a river of potholes and ugly, standing water, and there'd been a grand entryway with stone steps and metal handrails, all of it twisted and crumbling now, reduced to crumbling concrete and rebar.

Inside, it's a fucking tomb. It's cracked tile and peeling wallpaper with long streaks of black mold; it's graffiti and broken glass, and rotted doors hanging off rusted hinges; it's a single, abandoned hospital bed, it's padding slashed open, laying on its side near a set of doors that says OFFICES. It's utter silence, except for a faraway dripping and Aomine's own pounding heart.

He just has to go to the second landing. The stairs off the main atrium were secure and sound, he'd been told, and there was an observation deck up top that looked down on the dusty, cracked reception desks. All he had to do was walk up, take a few selfies, make a video shot down the long, dark hallway toward the first ward, and then get the fuck out.

His hand tight around the smartphone in his pocket, Aomine hustled toward the grand, wide stairs littered with leaves and garbage, and pretended that he wasn't fucking terrified.

At the very least, it was still daylight outside; it was 10 AM on a balmy Saturday in Spring.

comments

I don't tag on weekends, typically; if I do, it's the exception, and not the norm.
• STYLE: Third person past tense for prose and present tense for action tags. I've developed a preference for action tags, though I'll still pull out the prose if it's preferred.
• BACKTAGGING: Yes!
• THREADJACKING: Ask, plz and thank.
• SPONTANEOUS VS PLANNED: I plan a lot of my things because I don't have a lot of free time, but sometimes stuff just happens! Planned is simply the norm.
• INFOMODDING/GODMODDING: Obviously, I don't like it, and if I feel it may be happening, I'll speak with you about it in private. Of course, in threads that are out of Aomine's control, this is expected!
• FIGHTS/INJURIES/DEATH: Aomine doesn't pick fights (except with certain redheads) most of the time, but stress, youth, testosterone, and being dumb can inevitably cause this to happen. However, Aomine's just a normal teenager! Uh, more or less. He's as built and athletic as it's possible for a seventeen year-old be, and is already big and heavy for his age. Basically, he's power level is "professional athlete" and while he can't do jack about powers, even a lil', he's tough for a normie.
• FLIRTING/KISSING/ETC.: Feel free! How well it goes depends on the character, but no need to ask permission first. c:

• WHAT TO EXPECT: Aomine is rude, lazy, a bit stupid, something of a jerk, and way way way deep down...a good kid. Here we have a prime example of a Jerk With a Heart of Gold, who does Good when he can, even if he's bad at not being a shithead about it. Expect negative CR and sarcasm at first, but he's a loyal friend and fierce when it comes to people he's close to. I enjoy writing stupid shit and him being put in uncomfortable situations, so you'll see a lot more of his awkward and put-upon side than you would in most of his canon. In his chosen sport, he's a badass; in everything else, it's kind of hit or miss.

It should be noted, though, that as time has gone on there's some harsher, more desperate parts growing in him, and while he generally trends toward doing good and doing right, there's a thread of bitterness that may or may not develop into something genuinely nasty.

( Sexual Permissions/Wants/Kinks )

comments

This change is permanent, immediate, and persists even in his human form. He begins to feel the first touches of a wolf-like mentality, including territorial urges, pack mentality, and hunger. | Aug 29th (Sept. 1 2014)

These changes are also immediate, permanent, and persist while in human form. His hair grows more quickly and he gains a very strong, wolf-like mental presence. His hunger prompts dietary changes and his eyeteeth become sharper and longer to help with this. | Oct. 10 & thread link

He can take a fully wolf form and is heavily affected by the phases of the moon. Strength and especially speed are greatly increased, and he possesses exceptional stamina.
